Finances
For many people, cost is one of the biggest barriers to starting therapy. At Saguaro Counseling, we believe support should be available for anyone who needs it, not just for those who can afford to pay out of pocket.
Affordability and accessibility are at the heart of our practice, and they’re part of how we show up for our clients every day.
That’s why we’ve chosen to be in-network with many major insurance providers. We know how complicated the system can be, and we want to make it easier to get the care you deserve. Our commitment to access is rooted in the same values that shape everything we do: empathy, inclusivity and genuine support for the people we serve.
Saguaro Counseling offers telehealth services for adults and teens across Texas and California, and we’re currently accepting new clients.

Private Pay
If you’re paying privately, we keep our rates straightforward and transparent. We understand that circumstances vary, and we don’t want cost to be the reason someone goes without care. If these rates feel out of reach, please reach out. We’re always open to a conversation about your options.
Private pay rates:
- Assessment: $160
- 50-minute session: $150
Superbills
If we’re not in-network with your plan, you may still be able to use your benefits through a Superbill. A Superbill is a detailed receipt you can submit to your insurance provider for possible reimbursement of your therapy costs.
Coverage for out-of-network services varies, so we encourage you to contact your insurance provider directly to ask what your plan includes. We’re happy to provide any documentation you need to make the process as simple as possible.
FAQ
Insurance Basics
What is a copay?
A copay is a fixed amount that your insurance requires you to pay for each therapy session. It’s set by your insurance company, not by us. You’ll pay that amount directly to Saguaro, and your insurance covers the rest of the session fee. We have zero control over your copay. If you ever have questions about why your copay is what it is, your insurance provider is the best place to check.
What is a deductible?
Your deductible is the amount you have to pay out of pocket for health care services (therapy, doctor's visits, etc.) before your insurance company begins to contribute. For example, if you have a $500 deductible, you’ll pay for sessions out-of-pocket until that $500 deductible is reached. We submit your claims to your insurance during that time, to ensure those payments count toward meeting your deductible. Once your deductible is met, your insurance will start sharing the cost of care with you.
What does coinsurance mean?
Coinsurance is what you pay once your deductible has been met. Instead of a fixed copay, it’s usually a percentage of the session fee. For example, you might pay 20% and your insurance pays 80%. The exact percentage depends on your plan, and we can help you understand what that looks like once your benefits are verified.
Understanding Your Costs
How much will therapy cost me?
Everyone’s policy is different. We verify your benefits after you share your insurance information, and that’s how we determine what your costs will be.
What is my copay or coinsurance?
We don’t know your exact costs until we verify your insurance benefits. Even if two people have the same provider, their plans (and what they cover) can differ. Once we’ve verified your information, we’ll let you know what your portion will be. We have zero control over your copay or coinsurance; we merely contract with insurers to make therapy accessible. If you ever have questions about why your copay or coinsurance is what it is, your employer or insurance provider is the best place to check.
What will I owe at the time of my session?
If you’re using insurance, what you pay for each session depends on the specifics of your individual policy. You may be responsible for a copay or coinsurance, or you may still be working towards meeting your annual deductible. Our billing team is happy to check the specifics of your policy. If you’re private pay, you’ll pay the private rate listed on our Finances page.
What if my insurance denies a claim?
If a claim is denied, we’ll work with you to figure out why and resubmit when possible. If the claim remains denied, you’re responsible for the session cost. We’ll always keep you updated along the way so there are no surprises. Please keep in mind if your coverages lapses, or you get a new plan and don’t inform us, those claims will be denied and you will be responsible for the session cost.
